My Story
A Natural Music Teacher
At the age of 7 in Derry City (Doire in Irish which means oak grove), I was given the opportunity to take in all of the culture and tradition of my home town at the local traditional comhaltas group. Kevin Doherty from Derry; Dinny McLaughlin and Damien Harrigan from Donegal (just around the corner) were fiddle teachers who taught me at that time. I first studied music at HND level in Donegal with the guidance of the great fiddle players, James Byrne and Francie Mooney. Later on, I studied with Connie O'Connell (renowned fiddle teacher and composer) and Keith Pascoe (RTE Vanbrugh String Quartet) both at UCC (University College Cork). I have been immersed in a wide variety of traditional fiddle music over the years and I love to share this with my students. I enjoy helping students of all ages and abilities grow and develop in their skills and performance ability encouraging them reach their full potential. I am currently the resident fiddle tutor at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, London.
